BUSINESS MODEL

Holistic development model that delivers an integrated package of market-based scalable solutions and sustainable services in five areas of development (agriculture, water and sanitation, healthcare, education and community economic development (CED)).  Nuru facilitates the project as a general contractor; cultivates local leaders who will eventually run the whole project; and exits within 5 years leaving behind a completely self-sustaining model that continues to scale to eventually have national impact.

Delivered to date

The pilot project in the Kuria district has enrolled over 2000 members; achieved a 75% community penetration; increased maize yields for members by 150%; established a village bank; and provided access to farming techniques and inputs. The project to date has impacted over 10,000 people. 

Impact

The key indicator for the Agriculture program is increased income; Water and Sanitation- occurrence of diarrhea; Healthcare- under 5 mortality; Education- child literacy rate; and CED- ability to cope with financial shocks.
